Configuration

DevWorkspace Pro has two settings pages. Preferences controls the app. DDEV Settings controls the global DDEV configuration for all projects.

Preferences

Click the gear icon (Preferences) in the top bar, or Preferences in the app menu (macOS) or the Tools menu (Windows and Linux).

General

  • Default Project TLD, General projects folder, Default PHP Version, Default Web Server, Default Database Type and Default Database Version: The default values in the New Project dialog. The version list shows only the versions of the selected database type. See DDEV Projects.
  • IDE Command: The command or path that opens your editor, for example code or cursor.
  • Package Installer: The package manager that Recipes use, for example npm, yarn or pnpm. The default is npm.
  • WSL Distribution (Windows only): The WSL distribution for DDEV commands.
  • Resume AI Sessions After Restart, Keep Unfinished AI Sessions (days) and Restore Terminal Tabs After Restart: See Resume Sessions After Restart.

Appearance

  • Application Theme: Light, dark or system.
  • Project Tabs Layout: scroll keeps the project tabs in one row. wrap lets them go to more rows.
  • Show App Resource Usage: Shows the total memory that DevWorkspace Pro (all its processes) uses, in the status bar at the bottom of the window.

The status bar shows RAM and disk usage. On a wide window, it shows the full amounts and the percentages. On a narrower window, it shows less. Move the pointer over a value to see the full amount.

If you have no DDEV projects, the app hides the controls that work only with DDEV, in the top bar and in the status bar.

DDEV Settings

This page edits the global DDEV configuration (global_config.yaml). The settings are in the sections General, Container, Network, Security, Performance and Debugging.

To open it, click DDEV Settings in the sidebar.

Some settings, for example Performance Mode, have a Reset to default button.

Some network settings, for example Project TLD, take effect only after ddev poweroff and a new project start. To stop all projects, click the power icon in the top bar. The app shows this icon only when you have DDEV projects.
