Database
DevWorkspace Pro supports all database types that DDEV supports.
The Database card on the Overview tab of a DDEV project shows the database of the project.
Connection details
The card shows the database type and version, and the Username, Password, Host and Port, each with a copy button. Use these values to connect a desktop database client.
Additional databases
When the project is running, the card shows Additional databases, a list of the other databases of the project. When the project is stopped, the list does not show. Start the project to see it.
To create one:
- Start the project. Then click New database in the card header. This creates a MySQL or MariaDB database now. The name must have at least 3 characters: letters, numbers, hyphens and underscores. The app also adds a
post-starthook, so DDEV creates the database again on each start. - For PostgreSQL, use the Additional Database recipe.
Switch the database type
- Start the project.
- In the Database card, click Switch type. The Switch Database Type dialog opens.
- Select the Database Type and Database Version.
- Click Switch.
The app exports the database, deletes the DDEV project (without a snapshot), writes the new type to .ddev/config.yaml, starts the project and imports the export.
WARNING
Make a backup first. An export from MySQL or MariaDB can fail to import into PostgreSQL, and the other way around.
Database clients
DDEV supports web and desktop database clients, for example phpMyAdmin and Adminer as add-ons. To install an add-on, see Services & Addons.
